Public Access TV

There’s certainly an aura of mystery surrounding Public Access T.V.

Why is everyone talking about this new band called Public Access TV?

There’s certainly an aura of mystery surrounding Public Access T.V. With only one song up on Soundcloud, nothing uploaded to YouTube and virtually no online presence, the New Yorkers certainly aren’t wanting to give too much away just yet. Which in an age where most are using the internet to increase their exposure, Public Access T.V. seem to be shying away from it.

Yet Public Access T.V. are the band on the lips of those in the know. Last night ‘Monaco’, they’re only release to date, got an airing on Radio 1 and NME think there’s enough of a buzz surrounding them to give them a mention. And they still haven’t played a gig yet, their first being a headline slot in New York on 30th January. They’ve reportedly been turning down support slots for other New York bands, possibly, one could argue, not the wisest move if you’re trying to make a go in the world’s most musically diverse city. But turn them down they have, posing the question are they sanctimonious, or have they got a trick up their sleeve?

The one thing we can say for definite about them is that they’ve got a new track out, ‘Monaco’, which was posted this week. Maybe such comparison were inevitable, but there’s certainly an ‘Is This It?’ air about it, albeit with a bit more bite and funky bass licks. A good start you could say, but they’re possibly not quite living up to hype just yet. If there is any, that is.
